US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is visiting Israel to advocate for a ceasefire in Gaza following his administration’s call for an end to the conflict in Lebanon “as soon as possible.”
🇮🇱 🇺🇸 🇵🇸 This marks his 11th trip to the Middle East since Hamas’s attack on Israel over a year ago, which sparked the Gaza war, and it is his first visit since the escalation of Israel’s conflict with Hezbollah last month.
Blinken is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other senior officials as Israel considers its reaction to Iran’s missile strike on October 1.
🇱🇧 In Lebanon, Israeli forces targeted an area in southern Beirut that houses the country’s largest public health facility, resulting in 13 fatalities, according to the health ministry.
