The funeral for ARISE TV news anchor, Somtochukwu “Sommie” Maduagwu, is scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2025, in Anambra State, Nigeria.
Maduagwu, 29, was a lawyer, journalist, and producer who died on September 29, 2025, following an armed robbery at her residence in Abuja. The police have stated that she died after jumping from the third floor of her apartment building during the robbery. A security guard also died in the incident.
In the wake of her death, tributes have been pouring in, and the Federal Capital Territory Police Command has arrested 12 suspects in connection with the crime.
