“Hurricane Oscar Leaves Six Dead in Cuba Amid Major Power Outage”

Hurricane Oscar has caused six fatalities after striking Cuba over the weekend, coinciding with a major power outage.

Authorities reported that electricity has been restored to most of the capital. The blackout affected the country’s 10 million residents on Friday when the collapse of the largest power plant disrupted the entire grid.

By Monday afternoon, nearly 90% of customers in Havana, which has a population of around two million, had their power back, according to the capital’s electricity company, as reported by the state-run news outlet Cubadebate.

However, many residents outside of Havana were still without electricity.
